Indian Gaming Association mourns the loss of Chairman Ernest Stevens

Ernest L. Stevens, Jr., served as Chairman of the Indian Gaming Association (IGA) and was a pivotal figure in the expansion and development of Indian gaming across the United States. Throughout his more than two decades of service, he played a key role in increasing Indian gaming revenues from $11 billion in 2000 to a record-breaking $43.9 billion in 2024.

Native American communities. His efforts extended beyond gaming, contributing to policy victories and supporting the growth of tribal leadership. The IGA, along with its Executive Director Jason Giles, expressed deep sadness over his unexpected passing on September 26, 2025, recognizing his lifelong dedication and the lasting legacy he leaves in Indian Country.
